Well…I’m fine with Silly Love Songs, which have lyrics like “I….loooove…yooou…” and so on. Or one’s like Tequila Sunrise in which the singer says “I know you won’t let me down, ’cause I’m already standing on the ground.” But selfish songs (and other statements) telling a person things like “If you can’t take me at my worst you don’t deserve me at my best” are so narcissistic and entitled that they grate on my nerves. ^_^
As a great bard once sang, “You’d think that people would have had enough of silly love songs.” Anyway, I think 99% of pop/rock songs are not really meant to be analyzed in such depth. 🙂
Maybe, but this one was just repetitively self-involved, saying “Love me when it’s hard, love me when it’s heavy”, etc., and never ONCE mentioning the singer loving the OTHER person. Not at all.

Well, of courseI was trying to make the same reference. I was hoping for one of Roberts creative little smirking smiles he creates using diacritics.
Fair enough. I kind of thought you might be, but I get carried away with myself sometimes. If only I could use that fact to defy gravity…
Or, to paraphrase Harvey Dent from The Dark Knight: You either diacritic, or you live long enough to see yourself become to one criticized.
